Why And When Built

Hersham Community Village Hall acquired in 1985 by Esher District Council through a “Planning Gain” as a result of Hersham Centre development. The Hall was designated to provide a centre for varied and diverse activities of that Community at the most affordable costs possible and in “PERPETUITY”. Over the 38 years of its existence this hall has acquired “Established User Rights, and surely in these troubling times Elmbridge is in the best position to ensure this vital community asset remains accessible to the wider community in Hersham.

Village Halls

Some people may think that not having the community village hall would have some benefits. For example, they might argue that it would save money on maintenance and utilities,
or that it would free up space for other purposes. However, these arguments are short-sighted and ignore the many positive impacts that the community village hall has on the social,
cultural and economic life of the village. The community village hall is a valuable asset that should be preserved and supported by all residents.
Some of the benefits of having a community village hall are:

  • It fosters a sense of belonging and connection among the residents of the village.
  • It provides a venue for cultural, educational, and recreational events that enrich the lives of the villagers.
  • It supports local businesses and organizations by offering them a space to showcase their products and services.
  • It enhances the safety and security of the village by creating a network of mutual support and cooperation.

Parents

One of the common goals of parenting is to provide a better future for the children than the parents experienced.
This may include giving them more opportunities, education, health, and happiness.
Parents may sacrifice their own needs and desires to achieve this goal for their children.

My parents did the best they could for me when I was growing up and I want to do the same for my children and grandchildren.
They had nothing to do with their economic woes of local authorities or central government and they shouldn’t be paying the
price for other people’s financial mismanagement.
